The versatility of the iPhone always makes me awestruck.  Truly, the device is tantamount to having a mini computer in my pocket.  Before the iPhone, unless I was riding my motorcycle, or was expecting an important business/personal call, I never had my cell phone with me.  I would laugh and brag to people how “I was not tied to my cell phone” and “How pathetic people were in their dependency on it”.

Well no more.  I have joined the crowd.  All due to the versatility and convenience of this little device produced by a company named after a fruit…

No I am not referring to the network supplied by AT&T.  Edge, a game by Mobigame that takes advantage of the iPhone’s Accelerometer is uniquely one of the prettiest games out there considering its very basic shapes and use of colors.  The old adage is true in this case, “Simplicity is best”.  The game experience is unique by combining Maze with a three dimensional environment for a 2 dimensional platform game.  It has the feeling of the movie Tron due to its look,  but that is where the similarity stops.  Edge requires you to control a cube that must be navigated…

If you remember, a few days back, we had a short preview of the new SimCity for iPhone which seems to be a pretty well furnished and addictive iPhone game. To my surprise, I saw it on the Top of Top Paid Apps list on the App Store in just 2 days. However when I opened the App Store today, the Top Paid Apps list shocked me when it had SimCity on second and a Fart Machine application named iFart, which was previously banned but later on allowed, was now on top.

This is quite irony as Apple has never promoted such…

SimCity Bam

If you remember my previous post about SimCity, I was extremely eager to see it come to the AppStore. Not only would this make people see what kind of games the iPhone is capable of, it would really prove that the iPhone is capable of true gaming.

Well, we don’t have to hold our breath any longer, because happy iPhone users everywhere are playing the game right now! SimCity is up for grabs at $9.99, and the reviews are making it look like I was right when I said, “When this game is released, not only will it be different…

Although the App Store is at high stakes with 10,000 apps and 3 Million downloads, it seems that esteemed developers are unhappy with the pricing of cheap apps.

Craig Hockenberry from Icon Factory, the developer of Frenzic and Twitterific, describes the issue with the pricing of 99c “Ringtone Apps” in a letter to Steve Jobs.

In this letter, he has mentioned the problem with 99c which he calls “ringtone apps” or “crapware”. According to him, developer’s are reducing the prices to stay in the competition and in the long run. He complains that it…

Touchgrind 101208

The multi-touch interface of the iPhone has been taken advantage of by many game developers; up there with the best is Illusion Labs and their finger-boarding game, Touchgrind. With an excellent physics engine and superb use of the multi-touch capabilities, Touchgrind has you ollie-ing around the park with a bit of practice.

Players place one finger at the back of the board, and another on the centre to replicate a skater’s legs, and then maneuver the fingers in a variety of ways to perform spins, flips and grinds. With a realistic physics engine, flicking your fingers at the wrong angle…

Gone are the days of the classic arcade puzzle, and along with it goes the ideal platform to host them. The iPhone attempts to revive this lack of thought provoking, yet simple range of puzzle games with the new game Fleck.

Tagging onto the popular theme of an addictive puzzle game Fleck, by SurvivorSoft, puts you in control of a small elf coincidentally named Fleck. Your main objective for each level is to guide Fleck to the end of the puzzle, shown by castle gates. The main concept of the game is simple; you swipe your finger in the direction you wish…
