As Apple approaches the coming WWDC, new rumors are starting to surface about the new iOS and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. TechCrunch are already reporting that Apple will unveil a new version of its mobile operating system, which has been described by its writer MG Siegler as having completely revamped notifications and widgets.

That is not much of a surprise in view of happenings since last June when the Cupertino company hired him to create a notification system for the Palm’s webOS. Since then there have been several patent filings from Apple to show that they are also interested in creating always-in-sync widgets for touchscreen devices.

Sources have notified TechCrunch the reason that Apple is imploring journalists from all over the world to attend this year’s show is because the software announcements are expected to be extensive, while the expected change in the iOS is to make up for the lack of new hardware to be shown at this year’s event.

Although we have to sleep several more nights before this year’s WWDC takes place, Jan Michael Cart could not wait for the Apple presentation – he created his own version of how a widget will work on iOS 5. You can view a video on his web site – janmichaelcart.com.
