Facebook, the world’s largest social network recently announced a set of interesting statistics. The network recently added its 500 millionth user, claims that 30% of those users access Facebook via a smart-phone. This would be around 150 million users.

Accordingly, over 12 million Android users, 58 million BlackBerry users and various other smart phone users access Facebook. However, the largest share of mobile Facebook users goes to the iPhone. It is estimated that over 104 million users accessed Facebook via the iPhone.

This statistic is especially interesting because only recently Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, announced that Apple had sold its 100 millionth iOS device. Therefore, if the Facebook statistic were to hold true, then it would inevitably mean that virtually all those Apple iOS devices are being used to access Facebook.

There are a number of explanations for this. Firstly, it is quite possible that the statistic is inaccurate; secondly, maybe users access multiple accounts on Facebook, which seems most likely; finally, it maybe that all the users of those Apple devices log into Facebook at some point of the day.

Let us not forget that Facebook is the most popular social networking site in the world and users of Apple produces are generally very young and heavily active on-line. Either way, what is certain is that the iPhone’s popularity is only set to continue growing.
