In this era, when information is power and power means money, it is good to be up-to-date. It’s healthy to know what is going on outside or our own lives.

There are resources for finding out everything that you want to know, like keeping an eye on Twitter trends, or using Wikipedia. There are many other sources of information and of course, weather is something that we all like to know about.

Dan Hassin brings all of these things together in his clever little application; NewsAlert.

Everybody has something that they’re interested in and want to get the latest news about, for example; Apple’s iPhone, your favorite singer, actor, or actress. It is now easier, with this application, to find out all of the information you need.

Are you using an RSS feed? Yes, it’s a good way to stay informed, but there are thousands of messages and only a few applications to read the RSS feeds.

NewsAlert is a handy application; it brings to you only the articles that you are interested in. Type a specific keyword and whenever a story containing that keyword is released on the web, you will receive a notification of it.

You can even customize the sources, the times and the amount of the notifications you want to receive. You can also share the articles via email or Twitter from inside the application.

NewsAlert is currently available for $2.99 on the App Store.
