iLounge reports that Apple has banned screen protectors from its retail and online stores. This will affect both cases and individual film packages from May.
During its communications with the vendors, Apple has decided to remove both film-only solutions and other accessories that involve screen protection as part of its package.
Sources say that the ban will apply to plain protectors, privacy, anti-glare, mirror or other kinds of film that serve to protect the iPod Touch or iPhone screen. It may be part of Apple’s marketing strategy to suggest screen durability, although scratches are present and maybe damaged both glass and plastic displays of the iPhone.
So what’s next? It looks like other doors are opening and we will wait to see what is behind those doors. Since Apple has no official statement on this issue, we will let you know the details as we are informed.
