The Department of Health has come up with an application for the iPhone to help smokers quit their habit. The application is called, NHS Quit Smoking, and you can get it for free from iTunes, and the NHS Choices and smokefree websites.
How does it work?
The application gives you every day hints and tips to manage cravings; keeps track of how much money you are saving every day by quitting; and it shows how many days you have been smoke free. It connects you directly to the NHS Stop Smoking helpline via a direct line and gives you direct links to your local NHS Smoking Services.
As those who quit smoking know, quitting takes lot of willpower and effort. If you have support, you are more likely to succeed in quitting.
This application is the response, and an innovative way, of how the government is helping people. As Deborah Arnott, the director of charity ASH said, most smokers want to quit, so the government is coming to help them using modern technology.
I don’t know if you are a smoker or not, but practical support and advice is always welcome. The Quit Smoking Application is in your pocket wherever you go.
