How many of us run around with our iPhones with accessories in tow?  Battery Cases, Wires, Covers, Etc…  In fact just recently I did an article for the iMaxPower; IMP500 & IMP130/190.  How are you going to port those items?  How indeed…Will you just throw them in a bag along with the wire?  How many times have we forgotten to even bring the wire in a mad dash out the door to catch a plane, train or bus?  You get to where you’re going and….”Damn!…I forgot my power cord!”  If that happens you’re pretty screwed.  Now you have to pay more money to get a new cord where ever you are.  Something you don’t need save for that moment and that circumstance.

Here’s another scenario.  Some of us just are not organized.  I can tell you, my desk looks like a demilitarized zone.   I try to keep it neat, but too many things come on it that I feel have priority but eventually build up into a form of  inorganic vomit-spill which I eventually have to sift through to clean up, reassessing my attitude as to what is in fact worth keeping and what is not.  When I do this about every quarter, I find things I believed lost.  Yes, even wires.

This is where SPECK comes in with their TechStyle & TwoZip carriers. Originally for external Hard drives, I Believe that Speck is limiting their target market for these carriers as they are pretty handy for our needs as I described above. With these carriers our ancillary accessories are now consolidated with all their accoutrements in one neat package.  This is highly useful for in the home as well as in travel.  Now instead of having to throw my accessories in a drawer with others, where the wires get mixed up or turn into shapeless ball of spaghetti?  I can have my items with their proper equipment organized in a nice neat perfectly spaced and designed carrier.  Now many of you reading this will say “Hilty, it’s a case…You said you don’t care about cases.”  This is true…FOR HEADPHONES.  But for larger items I cannot simply stick in my pocket, travel cases are needed.  And SPECK is the way I think you want to go.

Here’s why.  The TechStyle is a small carrier that simply has one zipper on one track.  It is large enough to fit a bigger case like a Mophie or IMP 130/190 or other cases.  And there is just enough room to squeeze in a power cord, maybe two.  The TechStyle is roughly the size of a womans small pocketbook.  You know the ones that have no strap?  That is the general look.  But it does not look feminine.   The TwoZip has two compartments, one large and the other small.  And they are each opened by an independent zipper which counts to, (yep your guessed it)…two.  Two zippers.  The main compartment is the same size at the TechStyles and then to its left is another approximately 1/3 the size of the main large enough to store about 4wires in need be.  The details are:

Techstyle:

  • Length: 1.5 inches
  • Width: 5.75 inches
  • Height: 4.0 inches
  • Weight: 0.16875 oz.
  • Colors: Charcoal – Widescreen, Speakeasy Grey Pinstripe

While the TwoZips are:

  • Length: 5.5 inches
  • Width: 6.0 inches
  • Height: 1.6 inches
  • Weight: 7.0 oz.
  • Colors: Restart Greyscale Pixel, Speakeasy Grey Pinstripe

These are small.  Actually convenient, and easy to store in larger bags or just carry in hand.  Quality of these carriers are high made of a tough condura fabric. which is reinforced with a semi-hard interior molding giving them both form and strength.  The interiors are lined with a felt fabric to keep items stored there within pristine, avoiding worries about scratches and abrasions in harsh travels or sudden drops.  Each are priced at $19.95 and $24.95, respectively and are worth the price they sell at considering their quality of construction.

So ultimately, if you want to be more organized and protective of your ancillary gear for travel and in general?  TechStyle or TwoZip are your main choices.  I now not only know where all my gear is but also, know they will travel safely and conveniently for my uses.
