As a longly awaited feature of the iPhone 3.0 OS, a fully functional turn-by-turn app just came out. It’s called “MobileNavigator“. It offers turn-by-turn directions from a rather cool-sounding lady. The world-reputed German company promises an update with more features like multiple destination planning, addition POIs to the iPhone’s AddressBook, additional views, etc.
For now, the app has the following features:
- Reality View Pro displays photo-realistic 3D views with actual road signs and lane guidance for virtually every highway interchange and exit drivers will encounter.
- Lane Assistant Pro helps drivers prepare to make an upcoming exit or turn by providing a lane map complete with arrows and actual road geometry.
- Speed Assistant with adjustable audio-visual warning.
- Day & Night Mode for map display.
- Direct Access allows navigation to contacts saved in the iPhone’s address book.
- Branded POIs and POIs along the route
- 2D and 3D map view.
- Automatic switch between portrait and landscape format.
- Intelligent address entry.
- Real signpost display.
A lot of people seem to be complaining of bad GPS signal. I hope this is something that could be taken care of in an update. Until then I’m not sure I’ll purchase it, however I’d like to before they Jack up the price. What’s the word on TomTom?
I tried it on my friend’s iPhone 3G and 3GS and I didn’t get a bad GPS signal.

Cool I went ahead and purchased it. Haven’t driven with it yet though.

I can’t get a GPS signal at all.
The gps needs a clear view of the sky. If that’s not the case then it must be your area I suppose. Only time I couldn’t get a gps signal was when I was in the car and had the phone away from the windshield.
Try placing it near your windshield so the app sees the satellite and is happy.
walked outside in the middle of the street in the suburbs, still no signal. Google maps gets a signal fine…even indoors. weird.
