Jesus Diaz over at Gizmodo has stated that the newest version of 3.0, version 7a341, installed and works fine on his iPhone 3G. He wrote a miniblog updating his status as he installed the 3.0 version on his phone. The 7a341 version should be downloadable on your favorite bittorrent site and can be installed without needing a developer license. Also unless there are some major changes done soon it should be the version that is released on June 17. So if you feel brave enough and don't care if your device is jailbroken or not, then download iPhone 3.0 7a341 and give it a spin!

I already have it, the iphone 3.0 GM . I restored my 3g to it and it works very good. Since there is a jailbreak for beta 5 then it shouldn’t take long before they figure out how to do it to this one.
I done this this morning, and works well. MMS takes a while for o2 to switch it on, but if you try sending a mms, you get a text about 10mins later telling you its switched on. No other problems at all. Loads of new features.
What new features exactly ? Anything different than the Beta 5 ?
Where’s the video toggle switch? Or is video only supported on the iPhone 3G S?

I just installed this from 2.2.1 and both MMS and Tethering are crippled, thanks again AT&T!!!
they said the AT&T is a few pages behind on the MMS, but i heard it will be available by the end of the month
for those of you who aren’t aware AT&T doesn’t plan on having mms and tethering ready till after the summer. I.e. Months after the release!

Well in that case this OS sucks. I thought wow I may not need to jailbreak my phone this time. We don’t have most of the features that are being promoted and have almost no way of getting them. That is unless you are willing to throw two to three times the normal price. Can someone explain to AT&T what a recession means? So far the only difference i’m seeing is landscape mode and the ability to cut,copy,paste. Oh yeah and there is that voice memo app that was pretty much available in the app store anyways
on o2 in uk and this is a bit of a let down.Can send mms but not receive

Does this work on a 2g iphone? Is this the GM release?
I keep trying to restore to this firmware (3.0 build 7A341) and keep getting Error 10. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
They said in the original announcement that with ATT the MMS would be available later in the Summer, NOT on the release date.

Works np for me… I dont know what everyone is complaining about, I might miss my jailbreak but i know ill be able to in a week or two. The early upgrade was worth it. Most programs are a lot more responsive and faster to load. And Everything works for me, tethering, mms, copy/paste… etc
No probs with visual voicemail either that some are having.

Here is a Q for you… If I update my iphone 3g with this fw, will I be able to update again when the official one is available? My phone is not unlocked nor it is jailbroken so this is not an issue.

you need to update itunes before you are able to restore to 3.0 firmware.

to the people who keep getting the error message, you need to update to the new iTunes. *warning* this may prevent you from being able to jailbreak when the new pwnage tool comes out
decided to give this a go worked perfectly for me all the new features are top doller and my mms settings came in really quick on o2 within seconds after saying they were getting ready to send the settings.cant wait till the dev team release a jailbreak for it …
Why coulnt apple develop an app for 3g to record video, obviously it works when you jailbreak the iphone 3g.. with a cycoder app from cydia… i have a feeling that the 3.0 is gonna suck
@jake they couldn’t develop an app on the iphone because it doesn’t have the capability to record video. Cycorder is quick pictures being taken then put together. As far as I know the iPhone 3G S camera actually is a video recorder.
