I was like WTF I bought one a year ago and was told that i would be eligible for a upgrade with the release of the new one.. So i asked apple and there was nothing I or they could do since it was on AT&T's end. So I said screw this I'm going to the AT&T store I know people there too. When i got there I wasn't able to be seen for a few minutes but once i got to the desk and explained my situation to my friend he was more then happy to get them to me for the price of activation..:) but look if you guys really want a new iPhone 3GS and cant wait and what worked for me wont for you and you don't mind staying with AT&T for another two years, I'll let you all in on a little secret. activate a new line on your existing line like a family plan you are allowed up to 8 lines per account you wont be charged for more minutes... They say the speed is supposed to be alot faster, but the functionality is a step behind Cydia developers. Pretty disappointing if you ask me. I think the one big thing I have been waiting for that isn't on Cydia is the bluetooth stereo. I was expecting alot more from the new phone.
