First of all apple can’t stop you from jail breaking your device because when you jailbreak it’s similar to changing settings on your pc or changing your OS. Also the developers aren’t going to starve because you didn’t buy their app the bastards get money from other sources like companies that want to advertise through their apps they pay a lot to do that another thing those apps aren’t technically the property of the developers or companies if they are putting them out there to be downloaded I believe the apps should be free to the people who know how to jailbreak and get them

Actually, johnti, the 5 years-$250,000 is the basic copyright statement found in all movies, cd’s, etc. before you actually play your content.
Installous allows you to get an app from someone who left it in a pubic-media website, say fileshare(it may be a real site but I just made one up for my purpose). On that site they give you the option of making an account and paying a monthly fee for a better download experience. So you could- technically- pay for it that way. Though for the most part, it’s like a friend gave you an app they downloaded to put on your device. Why is that illlegal?

Dude the apps are just around 99c who cares if we get them for free! I payed $350 for this iPod and I think the apps should be free! Thank goodness for installous >.<

C’mon, as someone already said earlier, the FBI really isn’t going to spend time tracking down someone who has downloaded a cracked app that cost a couple of £/$, that would be the biggest waste of their time and money to do that, 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine is ridiculous, I would really like to know where you pulled those figures from, especially for pirating a few iPhone apps

People here are directing their anger at Apple..why? Aren’t they providing you with goods and services you want? In any case, you are screwing the developers over more than Apple, they only get a smaller % of the cut, and they make most of their money from hardware.

I’ve got a question i one of those apps where u get everything free for a day. I was about to get an app when it didn’t feel right so I came here. Would the FBI still come after me ’cause I don’t want to be fined and arrested. I also deleted the app right after I read this so will they? Plz answer me also. Thank you. 

Its not actully illegal because the fbi states using anothers property to make you profit is illegal but once you buy the ipod/iphone its yours legally and you are getting one of the infinete copys of the application so the apple license aggrement is a legal contract but thats for your apple acount not you as an individual or any one person who uses your account so i conclude it is legal because all contracts or fbi statement has a loophole
