Apple’s 2.2 iPhone firmware added some cool new features to the iPhone like Google Street View and the ability to download podcasts. Soon after the new firmware was released, the Dev-Team had it jailbroken. However, while QuickPwn was released for both Mac and PC, PwnageTool was only available for Mac Users. PwnageTool let’s you create a custom .ipsw firmware file with your custom settings and boot logo available for you to sync up any time. Using PwnageTool makes restoring less of a hassle for jailbreakers, because you are not required to “quickpwn” you device whenever it’s restored. The SHIFT+CLICK method of restoring your device with a custom firmware file made life abundantly simpler. The Microsoft Windows version of PwnageTool for previous firmwares was dubbed “WinPwn”, but for firmware 2.2, there is no such thing.
PC users were bummed out when they found out that the Dev-Team didn’t create a PwnageTool for them, but, in fact, they had no need to lose hope. It just so happens that dfrnt has been working on Jailbird, but hasn’t released it yet. Jailbird will supposedly be the equivalent of WinPwn for 2.2 firmwares, creating a PwnageTool option for Windows users.
The Dev-Team might beat them to it and make a PC-compatible PwnageTool (WinPwn) for 2.2 first, but only time will tell. If Apple updates the iPhone firmware, it’ll change everything, and everyone will be starting new projects (especially the Dev-Team).

i want this
i believe that winpwn was created not by the devteam but by some other guy with _help_ from members of the devteam, and of course their exploits, but blaming the devteam team for not releasing a winpwn 2.2 doesnt seem fair. and you could always get someone with a mac to make you an ipsw or do it yourself in a virtual machine, just saying. Good news none the less of this jailbird app
good work. i loved winpwn, i dont really like quikpwn. thanks difrnt
@unimportant
I was simply stating the fact that WinPwn 2.2.x wasn’t created. No offense to the Dev-Team; they rock!
I’ll ask this here because I don’t know where else to ask… I bought a first generation 8GB iPhone on Ebay. It came jailbroken and I could use my 9.99 Web2go plan on it perfectly. When the new 2.2 firmware came out, I wanted to re-jailbreak it while upgrading to 2.2. Since I’m on a PC, I had to use QuickPwn 2.2… now everything works except my internet. Could this be the reason? Would jailbreaking it on a Mac using pwnagetool fix my problem?
I would LOVE to have WinPwn back for 2.2 omg it would be GREAT a big thumbs up to anyone that can do it.. Also Why cant someone (Anyone)make a program to STOP your SMS’s from appearing and showing everyone what they say. My family uses my iPhone all the time to play games and they love it but I dont want my SMS to pop up and them be able to read it. Why cant it just pop up and say New Message…. and that is it.. Why does it have to show the message. I hate it. If anyone can help me please please let me know.. please.
Great!!! i don’t know anyone with a mac so doing the custome .ipsw was not an easy task…..please bring one to windows soon…….uploading someone elses .ipsw is not safe and that is one of the only ways one with out a mac can do it…unless you just quickpwn all the time, and tht is no good for creating a custom .ipsw
Go the DEV-TEAM you rock…..
good job
