iPhone users all over have expressed a feeling of disdain toward whoever their carrier is, and EDGE iPhone users were glad when the unlock for the first iPhone was released. When the 3G iPhone came into stores, some users of the new iPhone didn’t exactly like the fact that they were stuck with a specific carrier. There are special SIM cards you can buy online to unlock your iPhone, but, not only is this a hassle, they have been known to be unreliably faulty, and they don’t work some of the time.

The iPhone Dev-Team has been bugged plenty by 3G iPhone users who want a soft unlock in order to rid themselves of their unfavored carrier in a simple, “soft” way. Fortunately for many, the following was announced today by the Dev-Team:

“We have been working hard on a few other things. The main one being the 3G unlock codenamed “yellowsn0w”. This is now completed and is currently being packaged into a user-friendly application with the simplicity that you see in QuickPwn or BootNeuter.

      * The target release date for the unlock is New Year’s Eve 2008.

      * This unlock method is available to iPhone 3Gs that have 2.11.07 baseband or earlier, we did warn you.

      * The unlock requires a jailbroken 3G iPhone.”

It looks like iPhone users haven’t been too naughty this year, because all who are seeking another carrier for their sexy 3G iPhone may rejoice, for on New Year’s Eve, one of their wildest dreams will come true!
