Firmware 2.2 Just Released!

     Apple has just released firmware 2.2 for the iPhone 2G/3G.  This update has fixed a few things as well as added several exciting new features, however if your phone is jailbroken DO NOT UPGRADE!  Don’t even upgrade if you plan on downgrading again.  The Dev Team has instructed anyone who ever wishes to jailbreak their phone NOT TO UPGRADE until they make sure that it will not cause any effect to the phone.  Apple has been said to have been instituting some new efforts to block jailbreaking so you might permanantly render your phone un-jailbreakable.

     Since most of you have heard of the new features I will simply post what Apple included in the release notes: 

     This update contains many bug fixes and improvements, including the following:
• Enhancements to Maps
   - Google Street View
   - public transit and walking directions
   - display address of dropped pins
   - share location via email
• Enhancements to Mail
   - resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
   - improved formatting of wide HTML email
• Improved stability and performance of Safari
• Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular network)
• Decrease in call set-up failures and call drops
• Improved sound quality of visual voicemail messages
• Pressing the Home button from any Home screen takes you to the first Home screen
• Preference to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard Settings
