Sonic Vox is the new $.99 voice changing app from Smule. This app is another variation on utilizing the iPhone as a voice changing machine.

This is one of the first voice changing apps that I have really tried and I was quite happy with the results. As most are probably wondering, no.. it does not work while you are in a call. No call recording, or voice changing app currently works inside a phone call do to violations in the SDK. Although it can be a lot of fun when you aren’t on a phone call.

To quote Smule’s website:

“With Sonic Vox you can alter your voice with a swipe of your finger. Want to cross over to the Dark Side? Slide your finger to the left. Now say it. You know you want to. “Luke, I am your…””

This description could not be more accurate. This app is insanely easy to use and literally with a swipe of your finger up, down, left, or right you can change the pitch or echo of your voice and it is all performed in real time. No waiting, no buffering, no recording, all done immediately with excellent quality. Admitably you can’t really hear what you are saying without using external speakers or headphones but for obvious reasons.

This app is definitely fun and worth the $.99 that it costs. Personally I don’t have much use for the app but it could prove exciting if I ever wanted to use skype with my computer speakers or someone elses phone. Check out Sonic Boom or Sonic Lighter, both great apps also from Smule.
