Owners of iPhones are now beginning to receive the chargers recently read here due for replacement. HOO-RAH! Let’s hear it for good customer service! The product recall states:

“Apple has determined that under certain conditions the new ultra compact Apple USB power adapter’s metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock. We have received reports of detached blades involving a very small percentage of the adapters sold, but no injuries have been reported.”

Included with the new adapters is a self stamped and addressed envelope where you are to send back the old charger. And also….Paperwork saying if you don’t, Apple will charge you $29! WTF!?! Talk about sticking it in the consumers eye. Maybe it is so they eliminate the idea of you keeping the old one, you shock yourself and sue Apple? No one is clear on this but this is not what I would call a great way to establish good-will with your consumer base…
